About Mia Martin Palm Beach

Mia Martin is a distinguished author, historical preservationist, and philanthropist based in Palm Beach, Florida. Known for her devotion to the arts, cultural heritage, and genealogical research, she has made a lasting impact through her literary works and community involvement.

Early Life & Education

Raised amidst the rolling landscapes of Virginia’s storied Hunt Country, Mia Martin Palm Beach developed a deep-seated love for history, heritage, and the arts. A graduate of the esteemed Foxcroft School in Middleburg, she later returned to serve as a Trustee and co-chair the school’s Centennial Celebration—an early indication of her commitment to tradition and legacy.

Her pursuit of the arts led her to study in several cultural capitals, including the United States, England, Italy, and Switzerland. After gaining experience at Sotheby’s in London, she earned her fine arts degree from American University, further shaping her refined artistic vision.

Preservation & Heritage Work

Driven by a profound respect for architectural and cultural history, Mia Martin has played a significant role in the conservation of America’s historic treasures. She has served on the Council of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and co-chaired the prestigious “Restore America Gala” at the Library of Congress. A former Trustee of Oatlands Plantation, she has also supported the U.S. Commission for America's Heritage Abroad.

Her hands-on restoration projects include reviving a historic Embassy Row mansion in Washington, D.C.—now home to the Estonian Embassy—and restoring a historic farmhouse in rural Virginia.

Genealogy & Historical Societies

Mia’s passion for genealogy is a natural extension of her interest in preserving the past. She holds leadership roles in several prestigious lineage societies, including the Colonial Dames XVII Century, where she served as Recording Secretary and chaired the heraldry committee. She is also affiliated with the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Pilgrim Society, and was recently inducted into The Society of Mayflower Descendants in Virginia.

Literary Contributions

Mia Martin is the author of Dog Heraldry: The Official Collection of Canine Coat of Arms, published by Simon & Schuster and unveiled at the Westminster Kennel Club. The book is a unique blend of her passions—art, history, and a love for animals—bringing canine heraldry into the spotlight.

She continues to write about architectural preservation, particularly her fascination with Palm Beach Classic Regency homes, combining artistry with historical insight.

Community Leadership in Palm Beach

In Palm Beach, Mia is recognized not only for her cultural insight but also for her philanthropic spirit. She actively supports causes related to the arts, historical preservation, and animal welfare, leading fundraising initiatives and cultural projects that enrich the community. Mia Martin Palm Beach and her advocacy for local architectural preservation helps maintain the charm and historical identity of Palm Beach’s storied neighborhoods.
